The Sacrament of Baptism is the basis of all of the Christian life, the door that gives access to all the Sacraments. Through Baptism we are freed from sin and reborn as sons and daughters of God; we becomes members of Christ and the Church; made participants in its mission: "Baptism is the sacrament of new birth by water and word."
~Catechism of the Catholic Church

Due to the importance of this Sacrament, preparation on part of the family and/or the person to be baptized is essential.  This formation is directed to nurture one's faith and nourish him/herself in Christ, so  their understanding becomes more profound in the teachings of the Church.
