Confirmación

Through the Sacrament of Confirmation one becomes a "fully initiated" member of the Catholic Church.  Ordinarily, the Sacrament of Confirmation is administered by the Bishop.  It is the expectation of the Cathedral Parish that our young parishioners continue their religious education uninterrupted from First Eucharist through Confirmation.   Ordinarily,  the Sacrament of Confirmation is celebrated with parishioners in seventh grade. 

Candidate Requirements

• Baptized in the Catholic Church, received the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist, and be practicing their faith.
• Attending Sunday Mass regularly with the Cathedral Parish community, and receiving the Sacraments.
• Six years of religious education, demonstrating an age appropriate knowledge of the Faith.
• A commitment to serving others as a Disciple on Mission and participating in Service Days.
• Express a sincere desire to receive the Sacrament.
• Participation in the Confirmation Retreat Day.
• Submit a Statement of Intent and Saint Research Project.

Parent/Guardian Requirements

•  Attends Mass with your child regularly and prays daily for your child's readiness to receive the Sacrament.
• Engages in discussion with your child regarding the materials being studied and sharing your faith experience.
• Supports the completion of all assignments, projects and activities.
• Participates with your child in service days, retreat days, and other Confirmation activities, as necessary.

• Attends Parent Sacrament Forum, meetings, etc.

Sponsor Requirements

•  Be at least 16 years of age.  
  
•  Obtain a Certificate/Letter of Eligibility for your parish of registration.    
  
• Be a practicing Catholic, who has completed the Sacraments of  Initiation (Baptism - Confirmation - Eucharist)
  
• If married, be validly married according to the laws of the Catholic Church.
  

• It is suggested that the Confirmation Sponsor be one of the Godparents form Baptism. ​

Por el Sacramento de Confirmación se hace miembro completo de la Iglesia Católica.  Usualmente, el ministro del sacramento es
el obispo.  Nuestros jóvenes continúan su educación religiosa de la Eucaristía por la Confirmación.  En nuestra parroquia, los estudiantes en el séptimo grado reciben su confirmación.


Requisitos de los candidatos

• Bautizados en la iglesia católica, que han recibido la reconciliación y la eucaristía y practicando la fe.
• Celebra la Misa dominical con la comunidad y recibe los sacramentos
• Seis años de educación religiosa con un conocimiento apropiado para la edad.
• Un compromiso de servir a otros como discípulos misioneros y participando en días de servicio.
• Tener un deseo sincero para recibir el sacramento.
• Participar en el retiro de Confirmación.
• Escribir una promesa de intención y completar el proeycto del santo

Requisitos de los padres

• Asistir a la Misa cada domingo con su hijo/a y orar diariamente para que esté preparado para recibir el sacramento.
• Hablar con su hijo/a de las instrucciones estudiadas y compartir su experiencia en la fe.
• Participar con su hijo/a los días de servicio, el retiro y otras actividades asociadas con la Confirmación.
  
• Asistir a la sesión informativa para los padres.

Requisitos de los padrinos.

• 16 años de edad

• Necesita una carta de su parroquia que es un miembro activo
• Un Católico fiel que ha completado los Sacramentos de Iniciación (bautismo, confirmación, eucaristía)
• Si casado, tiene que ser casado en la iglesia católica
• Es preferible que el padrino de Confirmación sea el padrino del bautismo.
