Parish Organizations
Juan XXIII Movimiento
This worldwide group is an International Association inspired by the principles that emerged from the Second Vatican Council. Born in Puerto Rico, in the Diocese of Arecibo, created under the pontificate of Pope John XXIII, to be “a movement of evangelization” and working mainly for those away from the Church and the marginalized in our society. Throughout the year many retreats are offered from Friday evening to Sunday afternoon. Francisco Cruz is the Diocesan president assisted by Julio Diaz as the vice-president, Ida as the secretary and Delia Lugo is the treasurer. Parish meetings are on Tuesday evenings and on Thursdays formation classes are held. In order to work the retreats, you need to attend a set number of formation classes. This year, Pope Francis declared this to be a Holy Year for the Juan XXIII movement. With so much talk about re-evangelization and a "new evangelization," this movement serves to warmly welcome people back to the Church, so they may strengthen their relationship with God, complete their sacraments and perhaps, to convalidate marriages performed outside the Church.
